Case Study: Fidelity International

By investing in the most innovative names in healthcare, Fidelity International is witnessing the delivery of a range of positive impacts on society.

One of the companies in which Fidelity International invests is Fisher and Paykel Healthcare (FPH) - a leader in products used for respiratory care, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation used in hospitals.  Its growth over the next five years is underpinned by the success of its nasal high flow product which is shown to reduce the escalation of care and reduce mortality rates.  It is also a global player in the obstructive sleep apnoea market.

Fidelity International is keeping an eye on new product launches, which will be key to future growth. The company could further improve its performance by increasing production in Mexico, a positive product mix and supply chain improvements.

How the team works together

Fidelity International has around 200 analysts around the globe who conduct in-depth analysis of the companies in which they invest to develop an investment thesis. Our healthcare analyst Zara Lyons discussed her thesis with portfolio manager Anita Costa who makes the final decision to invest.  To provide confidence in the thesis, they both regularly meet with management, competitors and industry experts.
